Job description:
Key Tasks:
- Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Set out work areas, ensuring accurate measurements, alignment, and layout.
- Build and finish brick and block walls, piers, partitions, retaining walls, and feature structures.
- Cut bricks and blocks using hand and power tools to achieve required shapes.
- Lay bricks in correct bonds and patterns, ensuring consistent height, alignment, joint thickness, and structural integrity.
- Construct and install damp-proof courses, ties, lintels, reinforcement, and other structural elements.
- Mix and prepare mortar, adhesives, and related materials for daily tasks.
- Repair and restore existing masonry structures, footings, and damaged brickwork.
- Check levels, plumb lines, and joint consistency throughout construction.
- Operate brick-cutting machines and masonry equipment as required.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized, and safe worksite.
- Ensure strict compliance with all occupational health, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
- Certificate III in Bricklaying/Blocklaying or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrated work experience as a Bricklayer.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety and building standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
- High-quality workmanship with strong attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of masonry tools, equipment, and techniques.
- Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and within a team.
- White Card (Construction Induction Training) is highly desired.
- Experience in both residential and commercial masonry projects is desired.
