Job description:
Key Tasks:
- Perform routine maintenance (oil changes, brake checks, fluid top-ups) and scheduled services.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and manual inspection.
- Repair or replace faulty components (brakes, suspension, exhaust systems, batteries, transmissions).
- Conduct engine tune-ups, wheel alignment, and post-repair testing.
- Inspect vehicles for safety and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
- Liaise with customers to explain faults, provide repair advice, and cost estimates.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Stay up to date with automotive technologies and repair procedures.
- Provide roadside assistance, including battery changes, lockout support, jump starts, and spare tyre fitting.
- Flexible to work rotating shifts, nights, and weekends on call.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
Requirements:
- Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience as a motor mechanic (light vehicles/general repairs).
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Willingness to perform driving duties across QLD.
- Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Physical ability to handle workshop tasks and vehicle components.
- Commitment to workplace health, safety, and cleanliness.
- Adaptable and willing to learn new technologies and repair procedures.
- Desired: Experience in roadside assistance and on-call vehicle support.
- Desired: Knowledge of diagnostic tools and software.
- Desired: Experience with a wide range of vehicle makes and models.
