Job description:

Key Tasks:

  • Perform routine maintenance (oil changes, brake checks, fluid top-ups) and scheduled services.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and manual inspection.
  • Repair or replace faulty components (brakes, suspension, exhaust systems, batteries, transmissions).
  • Conduct engine tune-ups, wheel alignment, and post-repair testing.
  • Inspect vehicles for safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
  • Liaise with customers to explain faults, provide repair advice, and cost estimates.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Stay up to date with automotive technologies and repair procedures.
  • Provide roadside assistance, including battery changes, lockout support, jump starts, and spare tyre fitting.
  • Flexible to work rotating shifts, nights, and weekends on call.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Requirements:

  • Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience as a motor mechanic (light vehicles/general repairs).
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Willingness to perform driving duties across QLD.
  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Physical ability to handle workshop tasks and vehicle components.
  • Commitment to workplace health, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Adaptable and willing to learn new technologies and repair procedures.
  • Desired: Experience in roadside assistance and on-call vehicle support.
  • Desired: Knowledge of diagnostic tools and software.
  • Desired: Experience with a wide range of vehicle makes and models.
